Well think of it this way, if it was THAT broken, it should be an excellent skill to use in PvE.

Shame your spelling and grammar aren't as leet as your GW skillz.
I agree that I really don't like skills changing all the time : P. I was very much aggrovated when they first changed Soul Bind (because it was so good before xP). Let us hope that in GW2 skills are sorted to begin with, and we don't see a power creep ruining old skills, demanding radical changes to them.

Yeah, it's exactly the same thing, in much the same way as the holocaust is like having mommy make you do your homework.
I hereby award you the coveted "Most Hyperbolic Reasoning" award.

I think Izzy did a good job removing this skill from PvP.

cause it was overpowered in pvp, people were taking it in TA with 3SBmonks and 1 R/W and 4SBmonk and 3-4 R/Ws in GvG. you cant shut it down, cant prot vs it, they are hard to split, hard to fight 8v8 etc etc. it was just the next gay build out that was bad for pvp.
imo it was a good nerf that was needed, i almost made SB my avatar cause i ROFL'ed when i saw what they did too it.
o and btw

QFT. Azza, that is spoken like someone who has no CLUE what a hard life is about. Enjoy your nice bubble. One day you will have to leave it.
I think we can close this thread, since we went over this when the nerf came out.

This skill absolutely had to die. A skilled smiter monk in RA could easily deal with most party's healing needs and still be inflicting decent damage. Even worse, in TA specialized Thumper/3 Smiter teams were obliterating everything due to their insane ability to deal damage and remove negative effects.
Izzy did the right thing by removing it from play.

Still think its the lazy way to do things. Make something useless does not lead to balance, hopefully this was just temp so it doesn't effect MaT this month, and sept skill update next week will have a balance smiter boon, not overpowered like before, but not worthless like it is now.

The skill wasn't op because it was actually powerful , it was so op because there were more multiple copies of that skill. I guess Izzy thought that because he hit ursan so hard with the nerf bat that he broke the bears skull means that he should do that with every new skill , regardless if it's really op or not.

It only shows how good they are at balancing skills - with a gazillion of ways to make the skill balanced they went the laziest and lamest way and simply removed it.
Even a completely broken skill like this one could be made harder to use, impossible to be maintained, easier to be dealt with, punishing you if removed, or just costing you a lot if you want to use it continously for longer than just a few seconds.
For example look, there's another skill with similar effect - Divine Boon - just one of possible ways to make an even more powerful and flexible healing effect boost balanced

/agree.
someone is getting payed to balance skills. they should actually think about it for more than 5 seconds, possibly even think of how changes will affect gameplay.

even if the effect was overpowered (it clearly wasnt, it was fine for months) it should have been nerfed to be less powerful. every skill should have some use, even if it is some small niche usage. this skill was completely removed from play. they gave it the worst duration/cost/recharge possible, it's simply ridiculous.

Seriously?
Really?
Its not going to stay like that smarty, he killed it to remove it until he can think of a way to make it playable but not overpowered.

I doubt that. how long did it take him to make Otyugh's Cry almost playable.
besides he could have thought of a better change. it was "overpowered" for more than 5 seconds, there was plenty of time to plan a reasonable change.

Would you rather still having tripsmite running around, while izzy watched and thought of a good way to make it balanced?
It needed to be fixed. Skill removal (or total nerf) was the best short term option; Izzy did this well.
Now, in the long run, he should balance it and reintroduce it. What he does NOW is what will determine how good Izzy is at his job.
